Well this years festival was a great success thanks to all you who came and celebrated your local gay & lesbian community event. There were approx 3500 in attendance on the day. The weather was perfect, the stalls were colourful, the entertainers were fantastic & you the crowd were simply awesome. We are so happy you came, enjoyed and helped make this the best GCGD ever so far.
There are already some new exciting ideas in store for next years festival, with the thoughts of even having online ticket sales prior to the event.
A survey & feedback form will be available online over the next few weeks. Next years festival is already booked for Sunday 1st May 2011 back at Parklands Show Grounds so mark it in your diaries.
Photos taken this year will be uploaded very very soon

OMG. Here we are only a few days away. Only 3 sleeps to go. Well that's if you do sleep, unlike us, & for some it might be only two sleeps depending how hard ya party. Anyways all the prizes on the Games & Competitions Page are finally out. Make sure you enter as many as you can.
You may have noticed a few new stalls have been added in the last weeks and all are just as excited as us to be coming on the day.
A few of us were up at Parklands the other day for last minute meetings & measurements and I tell you the place is going to be awesome. The food vans are already setting up in place, the grounds look great and we reckon everyone is going to be delighted with the variety available.
So please keep putting the word out to all your friends & family to come along and share the fun & excitement. The entertainment is absolutely going to rock inside and out, the bar staff are gearing up to keep your fluid levels primed. Though as always please be responsible if ya going to drink, make sure you come with someone not wanting to party as hard and suitable to drive, or leave the cars at home and catch a bus. We want everyone to have fun, though most of all, stay safe.
Most importantly for all you guys & gals that are of that lucky vibrant young age or just so enviously lucky to look so young that you get questioned everywhere you go, make sure you bring your ID to be tagged appropriately if you want to have a drink, as security and bar staff will absolutely enforce NO CORRECT TAG or proof of over 18's ID produced on the day = NO DRINKS
And not to sound like a broken record, please show your support by making use of our supporters and sponsors services where ever you can. With out them, we would be struggling very much indeed. They have all been awesome in each of their contributions.
Make sure you retain your tag all you partiers, for the Official AFTER PARTY at MP's later Sunday Night. Its going to be just as awesome, with the place packed, lovely talent, heaps of energy & fantastic shows.
Ok thats about it, all the rest is for you all to come and see for yourselves. We hope every single one of you has the best time ever in whichever level you choose to participate.
Until Sunday, keep safe, pass the word GOLD COAST GAY DAY just a few DAYS AWAY. Thanks for your all your support & interest & see you on the day.

Well what can I say. The days are going quicker and quicker. We all are excited and at the same time sweating it big time to get all the final stuff in order before the day. Its all the little things that take the time. But hey you are all worth it and thats why we love doing it. To see you all coming together on the day as a community and seeing all your fantastic smiles means the world to each one of us involved. Awwwwww, I know. Ok, enough of the soppy stuff.
All the Stall Holders are pretty much locked in so go check them out on the Stall Holders page. There's over 50 now. So bring heaps of bags for the give aways & extra cash for all the goodies. but if you need we have managed to even have a ATM available on site near the front gate.
The Main Stage time schedule is now online. And also there will be programmes at the gate. So either way you will be able to have fun wandering around all the fantastic stall, but also ensure you don't miss your favourite entertainers.
The Entertainers page now has submenus so you can check out each area. The Main Stage, the DJ's bringing ya all the funky tunes to keep ya ears ringing and ya body swinging. And finally you can check out the Outside Stage performers being brought to you by Studio 44 Artspace. There is going to be some great tunes happening out there. As for times for the performers out there, you will have to just cruise on by and check out their notice board on the day to keep you in the loop of whats happening.
For anyone that had troubles getting their face painted last year. Well don't despair,, there are more than one this year. So no excuse get on down and get a new face for the day.
Also to get an idea of the venue layout check out the map on the How To Get There page.
Remember, theres are heaps of food variety this year, from what I've heard sandwiches, chips, kebabs and sushi just to mention a few, two bars for you drinkers, soft drinks for the drivers, ice creams & fairy floss for small and big kids alike, and yes we have a coffee van for you coffee lovers. The sausage sizzle will be pumping out heaps of lovely snags and the aroma will sure to have you drooling. The kids/ teens zone is just the thing to let you guys have fun or just chill out in your own space when you want.
Theres heaps more I could tell you, but hey we got to keep some secrets and surprises for the day. Just make sure you have Sunday the 2nd May marked in your diary, keep letting all your friends & family know. Rock up on the day (Gates now opening at 10am) and have a fantastic time. See you there & hey make sure you enter Mailbox so we can check you out & drop you a message.

Well the days are ticking down, the program is just about sorted out for the days events and hopefully we'll get it placed on here soon. A map of the festival layout should appear on these pages shortly also to give everyone a general idea of the layout of the land for the day.
Its great to have the GLOWSTICK BOYS back on board this year wandering around with heaps of goodies to hand out, especially their great glow stick bracelets. All they ask is for a gold coin donation to help out with costs. FLIM FLAMS are supplying heaps of balloons on the day. I hear GANGSTARS are going to be also joining the festival again roving around entertaining the crowds.
The OUTSIDE STAGE is set to rock with heaps of great entertainment lined up & hopefully we will get to give you a preview of whats happening out there in the near future. I'm sure they are going to entertain everyone as much as the MAIN STAGE inside the Colin Meagher's Pavillion.
Bruce Lynton Mini Garage Series are decorating two Mini's for the day and will have them parked within the festival with heaps of give aways. We have organised heaps of variety when it comes to eating with numerous FOOD VANS, COFFEE VAN & of course also our very own SAUSAGE SIZZLE. The BOOK STALL is going to be enormous with heaps of lovely bargains to be found.
Make sure you check out the GAMES & COMPETITIONS PAGE to see whats happening, though even before you do, believe me, there are some fantastic prizes to be won on the day, so make sure you enter everything, buy some RAFFLE TICKETS, bid at the Auction for the TITAN'S FOOTBALL, strut ya stuff in the HOTBODZ COMPETITION, be creative with the legendary PLAY DOH MOULDING & register for $2 and get those messages happening in MAILBOX.
The committee is fortunate to have discovered a hidden gem in a lovely lady called Carolyn who has provided us with fantastic embroidered Gay Day logos on our lovely pink T shirts we will be wearing this year. Anyone wanting lessons or something embroidered, like for social club logos or as simple as something for the kids, you can contact her by email at KraftyCarolynEmbroidery
MP's has a great After Party set to entice all later in the night. We hope you all will come along and enjoy the shows, catch up to friends and support these guys, they really have given heaps of support again this year to help make Gold Coast Gay Day the great festival it is becoming.

GOLD COAST GAY DAY FINDS NEW HOME
Great news for revellers of Gold Coast Gay Day as the
committee announces Parklands on the Gold Coast as the new venue for this year's
event in May 2010.
Committee organiser Roni Schmutsch is over the moon about the
new venue. "this is huge for Gold Coast Gay Day. Parklands has so many
advantages such as heaps of free parking, great transport options, the venue is
a well known festival ICON and best of all the venue is an ALL weather venue!" Roni
said.
The Gold Coast Gay Day committee surveyed punters from 2009
on the day and also via the Gold Coast Gay Day website and has responded to
requests to bring the venue closer to Surfers Paradise.
"Although 100% of people surveyed said they would come again
if it was held in Mudgeeraba many people expressed they would like to see the event
brought closer to Surfers. The committee took this on board and feels that
Parklands can cater for everyone from the Coast to Brisbane and across the New
South Wales border" said Roni.
Once again Gold Coast Gay Day will be donating a percentage of the entry fees to Care for Life suicide prevention.
Gold Coast Gay Day will take place on Sunday 2nd of May 2010 on the May Day long weekend in keeping with past tradition.
PLEASE NOTE THAT WE HAVE TO REQUEST THAT YOU LEAVE ALL YOUR LOVELY PETS AT HOME ON THE DAY DUE TO PARKLANDS NO PETS ENTRY POLICY
&
ALSO PLEASE REMEMBER THIS EVENT IS HELD AT A FULLY LICENCED VENUE
THIS MEANS STRICTLY NO BYO
All Drinks will be available at the venues bars
